There will be limited services for the following:
Laboratory staff strike
APEX Members working as laboratory workers across the DHB are striking for 24 hours from 8am on Friday 11 October until 8am on Saturday 12 October.
- There will be limited laboratory services during this time
- Alternative places to go for blood tests during this strike
Waikato DHB Medical Imaging Technologists strike
Some radiology staff who are APEX members working as Medical Imaging Technologists are striking from
- 7am on Monday 14 October until 7am on Tuesday 15 October and again
- from 7am on Wednesday 16 October until 7am Thursday 17 October.
This means during that time there will be very limited general X-ray services at Waikato, Thames, Te Kuiti, Taumarunui and Tokoroa hospitals. Please note ultrasound, and MRI services will not be affected by the strike.
Industrial action by APEX Psychologists
Industrial action by APEX union Psychologists began at 8am on Tuesday 1 October and will end on Friday 1 November at 8am.
During the industrial action, participating APEX union Psychologists will complete a maximum of two hours of face-to-face contact with patients and whānau each day.
Patient safety remains our priority and we are continuing to provide psychology services throughout the industrial action.
Please keep our Emergency Department for Emergencies only.
If your illness or injury is not urgent, you may face long delays. It is better to go to your family doctor or local private accident and medical clinic when symptoms first appear rather than waiting until you are seriously ill.
