GastroenterologyGastroenterology is the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic gastrointestinal and liver disease.

Waikato Hospital is the base for a regional gastroenterology service covering the central North Island and providing specialist services (e.g. double balloon enteroscopy, and fibroscan) for the whole of New Zealand.
It was the first in New Zealand to introduce double-balloon enteroscopy (DBE) and liver fibroscan.

Gastroenterology is a sub-specialty of General Medicine at Waikato Hospital and is part of the Internal Medicine cluster.
