ACLS core skills courses

... the Waikato Skills and simulation Centre.  For GPs requiring CME accreditation for AVE and MOPS these courses are endorsed for 8 CME Credits.  They are non-assessed and meet the RNZCGP three yearly refresher requirements for GPs.

... blood glucose control isn’t good at the time of conception, i.e. your tests are higher than ideal, then this increases the risks further.

If you take insulin to control your diabetes and are planning to get pregnant, then you are advised to start taking a higher dose, 5mg, of folic acid (a B group vitamin) and  continue to take it through to 12 weeks (3 months) after becoming pregnant. This can help reduce your risk of a baby with a neural tube defect (NTD).
